Gene Oliver, the gallery director, is an art historian with a doctoral degree in history from the Sorbonne University in Paris; Gene has many years of experience in fine art authentication and appraisal; as a private art dealer, he has advised many collectors and art institutions. Gene Oliver is also a member of the American Association of Museums and the National Auctioneers Association.

Our consulting department, Gene Oliver Art Services is located in San Francisco. We have clients in both Europe and Nothern America; most of our research can be handled remotely but we also consult "in situ."

We are familiar with European and American artists from the 19th and 20th centuries, with a particular emphasis on Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism artists.

We offer authentication services so we can provide an opinion letter and in some cases a certificate of authenticity. Our partner appraisers can also determine the fair market price and replacement value of the artwork under consideration.

Our first consultation is always free; please send us by email a photo and description of the artwork. We will give you an opinion and if we believe your artwork is genuine and valuable, we will send for your review a letter of engagement and a fees schedule.

Picture files and queries can be sent to dr.gene.oliver@gmail.com

We do not accept authentication and appraisal requests by phone.
